The forum, held in a conference centre shaped like a stone fort at the Madinat Jumeirah resort in Dubai, involved architects including Rem Koolhaas, Bernard Khoury and Nadim Karam; and designers including Marcel Wanders, Karim Rashid and Michael Young.

At the forum, commitments were made to establish a school of creativity in the Middle East; set up an Arab design association; and turn Dubai into a design capital.
