Dezeen's top ten: Milan 2008
Dezeen's monthly top ten: each month we present a hit parade of stories from our archive. Here are the stories from Milan 08 that were most popular during April:
1: In first place is Rotator by Ron Arad for Teuco (viewed 6,473 times during April 2008), a bath which rotates to become a shower.
2: Pole by Paul Cocksedge (viewed 4,415 times), a lamp launched at Established & Sons where light is transmitted around a bend in an acrylic rod.
3: Cube 6 by Naho Matsuno (viewed 4,276 times) was shown at the Salone Satellite and consists of six stools which slot together to form a cube.
4: Light Blubs by Pieke Bergmans (viewed 3,682 times). Part of Bergmans' on-going Design Virus series, Light Blubs are hand-blown crystal light bulbs containing LEDs.
5: Jet Set by Jaime Hayon for Bisazza (viewed 3,678 times), a fantasy jet complete with open-air seating.
6: New work by Maarten Baas in Milan (viewed 3,509 times) was a preview of work on show in Milan, including a desk in Baas’ Sculpt series and a new range of carved wooden pieces created for Contrasts Gallery in Shanghai.
7: Clock by Christiaan Postma (viewed 3,300 times) included an animation of Postma's design for a clock. It consists of more than 150 synchronised clock mechanisms, which rotate metal bars that briefly align to spell the appropriate time.
8: Randomly Crystallised by Front (viewed 3,919 times), a collection of vases and lighting for Swarovski Crystal Palace, made by combining cut crystals with hand-blown liquid crystal.
9: Shade by Front (viewed 3,065 times) more from the Swedish designers; this time a room set at Spazio Rossana Orlandi containing white objects and furniture, which were decorated with black marks and hatching to enhance the sense of depth and shadow.
10: Swarovski Crystal palace (viewed 3,015 times) featured installations by Paul Cocksedge, Front Design, Zaha Hadid, Studio Job, Piero Lissoni, Arne Quinze, Fredrikson Stallard, Marcus Tremonto, Marcel Wanders and Tokujin Yoshioka.
Just outside the top ten were Witches' kitchen by Studio Tord Boontje (viewed 3,000 times), Two-timer by Industrial Facility (viewed 2,887 times) and Basel Chair by Jasper Morrison for Vitra (viewed 2,867 times).
