Ron Arad: Restless - "This piece sucked me into the world of design"
In our second of four films made to coincide with the Ron Arad: Restless exhibition at the Barbican in London, we asked Ron Arad (above, pictured while studying at the Architectural Association) about his upbringing in Israel and how he found himself working as a furniture designer in London. Update: this interview is featured in Dezeen Book of Interviews which is on sale now for £12.
In the movie, which features rare archive photos of Arad as a student, Arad tells us about his upbringing in Tel Aviv, moving to London to study at the AA and how he came to create his first Rover chair - a design that was to radically alter his life.
