Handmadelights by Asaf Weinbroom
Industrial designer Asaf Weinbroom has created a range of lighting made entirely of wood, including the joints and connector clamps.
The Handmadelights collection includes floor lamps, a stool lamp, a pendant light and table lamps that have wooden clamps instead of bases, so they can be attached to surfaces.
The lampshades are made of laminated wood engraved with a textured pattern derived from textile patterns.
Photographs are by Dan Peretz.
Here's some more information from the designer:
Series 1
My first series of light elements was designed for large spaces, the lampshade diameter is 50 cm. The series includes a wall, ceiling and floor lamps.
I decided to use wood, a renewable resource, in the light elements I designed to create a sense of natural one-of-a-kind look and warmth. I used wood for the joints as well to emphasize high-end handmade craftsmanship.
The lampshades cones are built from a lamination of red oak veneer, engraved with a texture derived from textile patterns. These textile patterns detach the wood from its original context.
I developed a unique lamination technology to produce a strong cone made from thin layers of veneer; light in appearance along with a texture that emphasizes the wood’s natural fiber and structure.
Material: lamination of red oak tree veneer and full wood
Series 2
My second series of light elements includes two table lamps and a stool lamp.
I used the traditional wood lathe to produce all of the parts for my lighting fixtures. I created simple and obvious shapes to guide the attention towards the joints and the movement generated by them.
