In this final interview from our series of Dezeen Talks filmed at the Inside awards in Barcelona, Dezeen editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs talks to Lyndon Neri about his restaurant design within a hotel where cut-outs in the ceiling mean diners can look up into the bedrooms above.
In this movie he talks about the importance of the private dining room in Chinese culture and how his design challenges this idea. He continues his discusion of the Chinese attitude to restoration and recycling and how Shanghai is becoming a centre for new culture.
Neri&Hu also received the overall prize for this hotel, the Waterhouse at South Bund - see our movie about the project as a whole here.
We published the winners of all nine categories on Dezeen Wire as they were announced and have published talks with the winners on Dezeen Screen. You can also watch interviews with the judges, including Ilse Crawford, Paul Priestman and Andre Fu in the same series.
