Highlights from this time last year include a maze filled with mirrors, an electric car powered by jet engines and a hotel room that looks more like a bird's nest.
It was landscape designer Martha Schwartz that had designed the labyrinth-like garden for a Chinese horticultural expo, while the nest of twigs was the latest in a series of treehouses at the Tree Hotel in northern Sweden, which lots of readers were dying to visit.
Meanwhile, it was Clerkenwell Design Week in London, where Jaguar unveiled their electric concept car, designer Nick Fraser was presenting faceted plant pots and we were busy hosting a Dezeen Watch Store pop-up. We're returning to the event this year with our new collection from 22 to 24 May.
Elsewhere in London, Adjaye Associates moved out of their Hackney studio and into a renovated office block on the other side of town. Meanwhile, in Barcelona, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners completed a shopping centre inside an old bullring.
It was also a week for mind-boggling houses, as we showed one that peeks out from behind an oversized roof and another made up of a jumble of curved and rectilinear volumes. While some found it inspiring, others just couldn't get over its ugliness.
Over on Dezeen Screen we finished off our series of movies from Ventura Lambrate in Milan with a very short interview with designer Maarten Baas and showed yet another beautiful film about glass-blowing from lighting brand Bocci.
