This time last year Dezeen was all about the great outdoors with a zoological park on a series of artificial islands, glass objects made in the desert and Peter Zumthor talking about his Serpentine Gallery Pavilion.
The was also a graduate project including a scheme to pollinate London's green spaces with artificial bees, a looping bridge linking Alicante to the beach and another bridge with musical instrument hanging from underneath.
Meanwhile Chinese artist Ai Weiwei was released after 81 days' detention and we marked the UK public sector workers’ strike by publishing a collection of women’s clothes inspired by socialist workwear.
