Dezeen Wire: London 2012 Olympic cauldron designer Thomas Heatherwick has revealed that he has been inundated with messages of support from people "moved by his spectacular creation". Speaking to the Independent, Heatherwick also says he ignored advice to avoid having moving parts in the cauldron, which features around 1,000 moving components.
