This interactive slideshow includes the latest collection by Danish design brand Normann Copenhagen, exhibited in Milan earlier this month.
The collection of furniture, lighting and accessories was originally launched by Normann Copenhagen during Stockholm Furniture Fair in February. It was then exhibited at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, along with new pieces including a lounge seating collection called Era and series of chairs and tables called Form.
The Era collection was designed by Danish designer Simon Legald and includes an armchair with a curved upholstered seat, which sits on thin curved legs in either steel or wood. There is a high-backed, a low-backed and rocking version of the armchair, and a matching footstool is also available.
"I wanted to create individual chairs where each one had its own character," said Legald. "I did this through the variations of the high and low versions, and by the different frames available for the chair. For example, the wooden frames are flat and add warmth while the slimmer, round steel and chrome frames give a more industrial feel. Finally, the frame for the rocking chair is a slightly unexpected and playful choice for a lounge chair."
Legald also created a moulded plastic chair as part of the Form collection, which has a curved plastic seat that sits on a rigid stool-like frame. The seat comes in a range of colours and the frame is available in walnut, oak or lacquered steel.
"The frame is secured by a single plastic mould, which makes it appear almost as if the frame is growing out of the shell," said Legald.
Pieces shown during Stockholm Design Fair include the Swell sofa range by Swedish designer Jonas Wagell that resembles the shape of risen bread. The Swell two-seater, three-seater and armchair variations have padded backs, seats and two curved armrests.
A side table by Nicholai Wiig Hansen has a plate-like plastic top that sits on ash legs. Wiig Hansen also designed the My Chair, which is constructed from a rounded seat with a curved waist atop steel legs, and a matching table with a laminate top and skinny steel legs.
Lighting includes a collapsible lamp called Hive constructed from rings of steel, each coloured in a different shade of grey to emphasise its beehive-like shape. A bell-shaped aluminium pendant lamp hung from a textile cord that appears to be knotted around the shade is also available.
Dutch designer Marcel Wanders created Cristal Carafe, which is made from thick glass and comes with five plastic cups, each in a different colour.
Simon Legald also designed Nabo, a set of stacking melamine trays with softly rounded raised edges and handles on each end and Folk, a range of lacquered zinc candle holders with rounded edges for Normann Copenhagen.
