Competition: Dezeen is giving one reader the chance to win a copy of an Ettore Sottsass monograph and a pair of tickets to a talk at London's Design Museum about the designer's life and work.
Congratulations to the winner! Emily-Ann Gilligan in the UK won a copy of the Ettore Sottsass monograph and tickets to see Deyan Sudjic talk at the Design Museum.
Sottsass is widely considered to be one of the twentieth century's great designers, with a practice that spanned architecture, graphics, lighting and furniture.
A new book published by Phaidon looks at Italian designer's career in detail, charting his journey from military service in WWII to collaborations with prominent fashion brands and his death on New Year's Eve in 2007.
Although he is largely remembered for his work on large social housing projects and for setting up the Memphis Group — a postmodern design collective — he was also responsible for creating the iconic bright red Olivetti Valentine typewriter.
Written by Phillippe Thomé, the new monograph includes contributions from writers Emily King, Francesca Picchi and Design Museum director Deyan Sudjic.
One winner will receive a copy of the hardback book plus two tickets to see Sudjic speak with Sottass' widow Barbara Radice at the museum on the 3 June as part of the London Festival of Architecture.
The book will be available from 2 June 2014 for £100.00 – visit the Phaidon wesbite for more details.
This competition is now closed. One winner will be selected at random and notified by email. The winner's name will be published in a future edition of our Dezeen Mail newsletter and at the top of this page. Dezeen competitions are international and entries are accepted from readers in any country.
