Dezeen promotion: HP, Intel and creative programme producers Cut&Paste have announced the start of their collaborative LaunchBox showcase – an online exhibition of some of Europe's newest pre-crowdfunded product campaigns.
LaunchBox is an online competition that features new product designs from across Europe, before rewarding the best with financial contributions towards their upcoming crowdfunding campaigns.
Select designers and engineers from across the European Union were invited to submit innovative new projects, from concepts to prototypes, earlier this year.
From these, the online LaunchBox showcase includes over 450 projects ranging from lighting to bicycle accessories and modular furniture – a selection of which are shown in these images.
To qualify for entry, projects must not have received any crowdsourced funding or sales revenues prior to entry.
Until 11 July, members of the public can comment on the full list of projects and vote for the products that they think should win the £2,033 (€2,500) People's Choice Prize.
An additional Grand Prize of £8,132 (€10,000) and two finalist prizes of £2,033 (€2,500) will be awarded by a jury including Indiegogo's Anastasia Emmanuel and Pavegen founder Laurence Kimball-Cook.
Here is more information from the organisers:
The showcase has begun for the LaunchBox New Product Contest by Cut&Paste, Intel & HP
Through 11 July, new product concepts on LaunchBox need your discerning eye to provide votes and feedback online.
How you can take part
More than a contest, the LaunchBox showcase is designed to fertilise pre-crowdfunded product projects by exhibiting Europe's most imaginative concepts and rewarding a select few with their first cash contribution.
You can rate projects to help them win the €2,500 People's Choice Prize, offer up your expert advice through commenting, and follow products to the crowdfunding launch. How would you like to see the products improve? Different size, shapes, colors or features?
One Grand Prize of €10,000 and two Finalist Prizes of €2,500 will be determined by the Jury. Cash prizes will be direct contributions to the winning project's crowdfunding campaigns on the platform of the winner's respective choice.
The online gallery will be reviewed by a panel of prominent industry practitioning jurors including 3Doodler's Maxwell Bogue, Pavegen Founder Laurence Kimball-Cook, Fab.com SVP of Design Evan Clabots, and Indiegogo's Anastasia Emmanuel.
About the submissions
LaunchBox's submission process required information that would prepare designed products for a future crowdfunding campaign.
To submit, entrants provided project images of process sketching, 3D-renderings, prototype photography, diagrams, final renderings, or final product photography, plus a project description that tells a story with a 140 character elevator pitch.
Project categories include Consumer Electronics, Medical Devices, Sports and Adventure, Housewares, Office, Furnishing, Accessories, Vehicle and Transportation, Games and Toys, Utility, and Internet of Things.
