Swedish designer Fredrik Wallner has designed a flexible bathroom system for Stockholm brand Swoon that takes references from furniture in other parts of the home (+ slideshow).
Fredrik Wallner's Furniture Series range for Swoon includes four different styles, each available in a vanity unit that incorporates a sink and storage space, a tall freestanding cabinet, a wall mounted mirrored cabinet and a mirror.
Described as the "minimalist" style, the Side collection features thin metal legs, with slim ceramic tops for the vanity and side units. Drawers and doors are opened using flat circular knobs in the centre, which can be matched to the basin tap. LED lights are integrated into the mirrored cabinet and the matching thin frameless mirror.
Soft has rounded drawer fronts and integrated handle grips, with angled trestle-like wooden legs. Square is designed to create a "rustic modern feeling" with drawer and cabinet fronts including a wide border and a milled inner edge. Finally, Single offers a more compact version of the other collections for smaller spaces.
"I believe that the bathroom should be a part of the home, not a world of its own," Wallner told Dezeen.
Customers can select from a range of colours, drawer handles and faucets to create a bathroom to their own specifications – made to order in three to five weeks and shipped directly.
"With Swoon everyone can create a personal style in the bathroom, just like in the rest of the home," said the brand's co-founder and CEO, Lars Tobiasson.
The panels surrounding the bathroom units are available in white and black ash, plus 10 colours selected by Swoon.
Handle options include porcelain, brushed copper and cork, while leg stands are available in white or black lacquered steel with trestle-like styles in solid ash. Taps come in chrome, white and matte black.
"It's super exciting to design something that will be customised by the customer himself," said Wallner. "I have added innovative practical things like secret compartments and hidden drawers."
Swoon was launched in Sweden earlier this year. "We wanted to do something completely new," said Tobiasson. "I've worked with bathrooms for a long time and I know that many customers are a little tired of standard solutions."
The brand has now opened an English online shop, and started shipping to Finland, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Austria, Germany, as well as the UK.
