Competition: Dezeen has teamed up with British furniture manufacturer Vitsœ to give away five side tables originally created by German industrial designer Dieter Rams.
Congratulations to the winners! Simon Drayson from the UK, Adam Frederick from the USA, Callum Senjov from Australia, Markus Brendel from Germany and Catherine Miles from the UK all won a Vitsœ table by Dieter Rams.
Vitsœ's injection-moulded plastic 621 Side Table was initially designed by Rams in 1962 as a strong and flexible piece of furniture for the home or office.
Available in black or off-white, it features a wipe-clean surface, hand-painted anti-static finish and comes in two heights: 45 centimetres and 36 centimetres.
Last produced in 1980, the design of the table was informed by Rams' ideas about elevating plastic to a material of high status and now features adjustable feet.
When turned on its side, the table fits over a sofa and the shallow recesses in its legs can be used as trays.
While working as a designer for Vitsœ and German consumer products company Braun, Rams earned a reputation for his utilitarian style, informed by his ten principles for good design that included usefulness, unobtrusiveness, honesty, longevity, and aesthetic beauty.
He created the 621 Side Table at the same time as the 620 Chair Programme, which features interchangeable parts and full-grain uncoated leather.
Competition winners will receive a 621 Side Table in their preferred colour and size.
This competition is now closed. Five winners will be selected at random and notified by email. The winners' names will be published in a future edition of our Dezeen Mail newsletter and at the top of this page. Dezeen competitions are international and entries are accepted from readers in any country.
