Competition: Dezeen has teamed up with Frame publishers to offer readers the chance to win one of five new books that explore the use of craftsmanship in "postdigital" design.
Congratulations to the winners! Tomas Silva Alonso from Spain, Alexia Danton from the UK, Franziska Land from Germany, Matthew Zinski from the US and Mark Morris from Malaysia.
Postdigital Artisans by writer and editor Jonathan Openshaw examines the rise in the desire for physical and tactile experiences, in response to an increase in digital design.
Each of the six chapters focus on 10 designers. Although influenced by the technological world, the subjects create work through the use of more traditional techniques and materials.
"They advocate a return to craft, with objects made from clay, metal, glass and wood," explained the publishers. "They neither turn their backs on technology nor glorify nostalgia, but their high-tech honeymoon is over."
Full-bleed images are used to illustrate the work of each designer, while in-depth conversations explore the reasoning behind their processes. Handwritten headings were designed by calligrapher Sarah Blais.
Further explaining the use of postdigital creativity and its influence across the industry, the chapters conclude with essays by various industry experts.
An interview with curator Hans Ulrich Obrist opens the book, which also includes an essay written by architect Liam Young.
Openshaw – editor of LS:N Global – selected the 60 creatives featured in the book, including Daniel Arsham of Snarkitecture and Maiko Takeda, who created the headpiece on the cover image.
Postdigital Artisans retails for €39 (approximately £29), and is available from Frame's online store.
This competition has now closed. Five winners will be selected at random and notified by email. Winners' names will be published in a future edition of our Dezeen Mail newsletter and at the top of this page. Dezeen competitions are international and entries are accepted from readers in any country.
