French designer Aurélien Barbry has installed a pattern of black and white stripes across the floor of Hong Kong beauty brand Facesss' Harbour City store.
The floor design is taken from branding originally created by Hong Kong agency Constant, and features stripes placed at contrasting angles that create irregular chevron shapes.
The edges of the pattern are marked out with a strip of lighting that continues up along the edges of walls to create the feeling of a "shop-in-shop".
"The design is all about creating an quiet and easy experience," said Barbry, who set up his own studio in 2007 and is now based in Copenhagen.
"The floor is taken as a large canvas with an artwork from Constant and a way to bring the new global identity alive inside the shop," he added.
The store is located in the Harbour City shopping centre in Tsim Sha Tsui, across the water from Hong Kong island. Its colour scheme of the floor is repeated in the rest of the shop, which features light wood and a restrained colour scheme.
A large central ash trestle table and set of stools lets visitors sit and test out products. These are displayed on black metal shelves that create graphic outlines on the surrounding concrete walls.
A circular brass side table rests in the corner, and pale wooden benches underneath the shelves function as seating and storage.
Clusters of globe-shaped lighting from Italian brand Flos hang overhead, and the thin lines of the wall shelves are echoed as an overhead metal rod that houses cylindrical spotlights.
Barbry has previously designed his own furniture, creating a prototype for a steel barstool that offered footrests positioned at different levels to allow people of varying heights to sit comfortably.
He also partnered with Danish design brand Normann Copenhagen to release a set of reusable cork stoppers in three different shapes.
