Dezeen promotion: this year's Munich Creative Business Week will include a range of design-led events for industry professionals and the public across the city from 20 to 28 February 2016 (+ slideshow).
Each year, MCBW addresses a theme that focuses on current trends and topics of discussion in society. The 2016 edition will explore how "Design Connects Visions For Economy".
Exhibitions, conferences, panel discussions, lectures and workshops, activities and award ceremonies will take place across the Bavarian city.
All will aim to provide a broad audience with information on current developments and future trends, by addressing the way that design is connected to society, culture and the economy.
Future markets such as health management, urban planning, recreation, retailing and shopping, mobility and education are among the topics that will be addressed.
The programme for MCBW includes an exhibition titled Marcel Wanders welcomes you to Moooi, which will display the Dutch design brands' products from 20 to 27 February 2016.
Dutch designer Dirk Vander Kooij will also be exhibiting his work from 20 February to 31 March 2016. His designs of chairs, tables, vases and lamps combines tradition with technology, craftsmanship and digital robotics.
An exhibition that celebrates the best of design in the Dutch community will take place at the Alte Kongreeshall. Two free guided tours of the exhibition are offered daily.
Other activities include the Design-Slam on 25 February 2016, 6:30-11pm, during which 10 contestants will each present their design topic in 10 minutes.
Format D will explore the development of wearable technology by creating a shirt that you can play the piano on in their Wearables Workshop, while this year's Grantler's Corner will invite a discussion on the themes of vision, discourse and reality.
For the first year, MCBW has published a magazine containing background information on design and architecture, available to pick up at central locations in Munich.
MCBW's events are open to anyone with an interest in design, and many are free and do not require registration.
