Competition: Dezeen has teamed up with Geometry of Pasta founder Caz Hildebrand to give five readers the chance to win set of pasta and sauces that come in graphic geometric packaging.
Congratulations to the winners! James Strong from Canada, Wendy Wan from the UK, Gonzalo Prada from Spain, Tara Henthorn from Germany and Steffen Harfot from Denmark.
Geometry of Pasta is the brainchild of graphic designer Caz Hildebrand and chef Jacob Kenedy. The pair first released a cookbook in 2010, and Hildebrand has since gone on to create her own range of ingredients.
"Food is a passion and so is design, and it seemed only natural to combine them," Hildebrand told Dezeen. "We work in the area of food and drink as designers, and what greater pleasure is there than working on the things you love."
Hildebrand's packaging design features simple, geometric, black-and-white shapes depicting the pasta inside.
"The design for the packaging came directly from the book I created with chef Jacob Kenedy which was also illustrated in simple graphic black and white," Hildebrand told Dezeen. "The book set out to explain how to pair the perfect pasta shape with the perfect sauce, something Italians do instinctively, unlike the rest of the world."
"Using simple graphic representations of pasta shapes is a bold, simple way to attract attention and communicate clearly, and we wanted to tell the story of our brand simply, in straightforward black and white," she added.
Hildebrand worked with artisan producers from Tuscany to create the range of pasta and sauces, which are each made in small batches to ensure freshness.
Similarly to the book, The Geometry of Pasta product range aims to "elevate pasta and sauce" by matching the perfect combination of the two.
The slow-dried, bronze-drawn pasta comes in two ranges with accompanying sauces: white label for everyday, traditionally shaped pasta; black label for more gourmet, specially crafted pasta.
Winners will receive one of the following pasta and sauce combinations: Gigli and Sugo di Anatra, Pici and Sugo di Anatra, Conchiglioni and Sugo di Carne Chianina, Tagliolini All'uovo and Sugo ai Funghi Porcini con Tartufo, or Farfalle and Puttanesca.
Caz Hildebrand is a graphic designer who has previously worked as an art director at Penguin Books and Random House. She has also designed cookbooks for chef Nigella Lawson and restaurant Nopi, and is currently the creative partner of east London studio Here Design.
This competition is now closed. Five winners will be selected at random and notified by email, and their names will be published at the top of this page. Dezeen competitions are international and entries are accepted from readers in any country.
