Dezeen promotion: London's first multi-brand sample sale will take place from 4 to 6 March 2016, with 20 top furniture, lighting and accessories brands offering discounts of up to 70 per cent off (+ slideshow).
The Sample Sale will include deals on ex-display models, design classics, limited-edition pieces, prototypes and discontinued lines from brands including Tom Dixon, Case Furniture, tokyobike, Decode, Moroso, LSA, Another Country, Arper, Plumen, Anglepoise and many more.
Dezeen readers can receive an exclusive 50 per cent off tickets by registering now and entering the code "Dezeen".
The first edition of the shopping event organised by Designjunction will take place at Victoria House B1, Bloomsbury Square, London, WC1B 4DA.
The event will be open on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 March from 12pm to 8pm, and from 12pm to 6pm on Sunday 6 March.
On each day, a Star Buy will be chosen by each brand, offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Star Buys available include furniture brand Ligne Roset's St James Armchair reduced from £814 to £249 on 4 March. The chair was originally designed by French architect Jean Nouvel for a restaurant, where the elasticated covers over the foam pads were changed for each new customer.
British designer Tom Dixon's Flood Chrome Pendant, which apparently reference the automotive design industry, will also be on offer at the discounted price of £55 on 5 March, the original retail price was £175.
Italian furniture brand Moroso will be selling products half price, with the Klara chair reduced from £1212 to £581.76.
Designjunction – an international design exhibition with shows in London and New York – will present its own collection of discounted items during the event as part of The Marketplace.
Brands joining The Market Place include Tokyobike, Design Museum, Arper, Plumen and Modus – whose PLC Dining Chairs will be reduced from £439 to £150.
The new shopping concept follows an increase in new retail strategies for design products. Fashion brands, such as Burberry, are starting to sell fashion collections straight from the catwalk while in 2015 Tom Dixon sold his products straight from his exhibition at Milan Design Week.
"With the growing number of sample sales across the fashion industry and brands looking at new ways to retail product, The Sample Sale provides the perfect platform to clear ex-display stock at prices that are far more accessible for design-savvy shoppers," said Deborah Spencer, director of The Sample Sale and Designjunction.
Dezeen is main media partner for the event, which takes place from 4 to 6 March 2016. By entering the promotional code "dezeen" when registering, readers will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win four low Noughts & Crosses stools designed by Michael Sodeau for Modus.Dezeen readers will also receive a 50 per cent discount. Standard ticket prices are £5 in advance and £8 on the door.
