Milan 2016: over 14,000 images were posted to Instagram using our #milanogram2016 tag during Milan design week, and this shot by Lijo John Mathew has been named best photograph by our panel of judges.
Visitors to Milan's annual design fair were invited to post pictures of their favourite products, installations and moments using the #milanogram2016 tag, with a selection of the best images regrammed by the Dezeen account and included in a series of daily highlights on the site.
High-profile designers joining in this year included Fabio Novembre, Benjamin Hubert, Tom Dixon and Lee Broom, who used the platform to their own experiences during the week.
This photograph of a child exploring Lensvelt's installation space at Ventura Lambrate, where the Dutch brand showcased its Boring Collection of office furniture, was selected by the Dezeen team as the overall winner.
Lijo John Mathew, the Instagram user responsible for the shot, will receive a Milano Metro watch manufactured by Italian brand NAVA, courtesy of Dezeen Watch Store.
"It was great to see our #milanogram2016 tag being used by designers and visitors as a tool for useful information and for having a bit of fun," said Dezeen's social media editor Ross Bryant. "We also noticed other publications following our lead on Instagram this year, which was very flattering."
"The standard was very high and the volume of participants overwhelming," he added.
Eric Gonzales' image of Sou Fujimoto's "forest of light" installation for fashion brand COS narrowly missed out on being voted as the overall winner, but was highly commended by the Dezeen team.
Among the other shortlisted images were photographs of Nendo's collection of chairs influenced by comic books and an image of Patricia Urquiola's cabinets for Credenza featuring stained-glass doors.
The judging panel also included Dezeen's editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs and editor Anna Winston.
