An exhibition opens this week in London showcasing paintings, sketches and jewellery designs by Zaha Hadid, selected by a gallerist who had a long-standing friendship with the late architect (+ slideshow).
The Masterpiece London art fair's Zaha Hadid Commemorative Salon is curated by the CEO of David Gill Gallery, Francis Sultana, who commissioned a number of furniture designs from the architect before her death.
Pieces from Hadid's Liquid Glacial furniture collection that resemble formations of ice are included in the exhibition, alongside abstract paintings, and cuffs and rings designed for Danish brand Georg Jensen.
The architect's chrome-plated United Nude Nova shoes, which feature 16.5-centimetre cantilevered heels, are on display, alongside drawings from Hadid's sketchbook.
The exhibition also brings together personal objects and fashion pieces owned by Hadid, including her studio's reinterpretation of the Louis Vuitton bucket bag and a set of drafting tools.
"This special salon at Masterpiece recognises her unique vision, from the cities in which we live to the buildings within them as well as interiors and the people who inhabit them," said Sultana.
"It also reveals her love of fashion, which was often quite playful."
Hadid died following a heart attack in March this year, prompting a wave of tributes from the world of architecture.
A new Iraqi postage stamp has also been announced in honour of the architect, and a retrospective of her work is being held at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale.
"Zaha left us so suddenly, I hope that this salon will allow her friends, her colleagues and those who simply loved her work to have a small moment with this unassailable talent who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her," Sultana added.
Sultana also paid tribute to Hadid shortly after her death, describing her as "one of a kind" and a "pioneer, visionary, intellectual, leader, revolutionary".
This year's Masterpiece London fair will take place from 30 June to 6 July 2016, in the grounds of The Royal Hospital Chelsea.
