Competition: Dezeen has teamed up with German publishing house Gestalten to give away five copies of its new book Scandinavia Dreaming.
Congratulations to the winners! Osato Emumwen from the UK, Vilia Evstaieva from Bulgaria, Rasmus H Kristensen from Denmark, Cristina Mazzoni from Italy and Fidel Pamintuan from the USA.
Scandinavia Dreaming documents contemporary Nordic architecture, interiors and design.
Co-edited by Gestalten CEO Robert Klanten along with editors Angel Trinidad and Sven Ehmann, the book also profiles a mix of emerging talent and renowned brands that have influenced the Nordic design industry.
"Design firms such as Hay, Ferm Living and Frama are highlighted and extolled for the new layer of warmth and energy that they bring to contemporary Danish design, while honouring that Scandinavian aesthetics and spaces need to be both liveable and logical," explained the publishing house.
The book also details projects that feature traditional Scandinavian materials – like tile, wood, glass and ceramics – which have been reappropriated and used for modern pieces of furniture and homeware.
"Scandinavia Dreaming presents dazzling interiors, architecture and products that show the richness, variety and intensity of contemporary Nordic spaces," said Gestalten.
Scandinavia Dreaming includes Finnish home textiles by Klaus Haapaniemi and Kustaa Saksi, as well as products by Copenhagen-based design house Gubi – who update and relaunch mid-century designs.
Norwegian studio Kneip, whose past projects include a series of sculptural atmospheric sensors and moving sculptures from found objects, also feature within the hardback book.
Gestalten is known for its extensive range of books covering industries like contemporary creative culture, design movements, lifestyle, illustration, architecture, fashion, photography, travel and art.
Full-page images showing homes, products and design industry professionals are used to illustrate stories throughout the book.
Five readers will each receive a copy of the book, which is also available for purchase for £35 through the Gestalten website.
This competition is now closed. Five winners will be selected at random and notified by email, and their names will be published at the top of this page. Dezeen competitions are international and entries are accepted from readers in any country.
