With Dutch Design Week just around the corner, we've rounded up five of the event's most intriguing exhibitions, including a gastronomic venture from Maarten Baas and a show exploring erotic displeasure.
Taking place from 22 to 30 October 2016, this year's Dutch Design Week will focus on the creative process under the theme The Making Of.
More than 2,500 participants will show their products, concepts and experiments across 100 locations in Eindhoven. Here are five of the exhibitions we're most looking forward to during the event:
In Need Of... by Design Academy Eindhoven graduates
Here, 171 of the 2016 Design Academy Eindhoven graduates will present their visions for a better world and explore how design can play a role achieving this.
Throughout the graduation show, students will deal with themes including war, peace, surveillance, privacy and gender. Production processes and methods are also challenged through new material innovations and technologies.
In Need Of... at De Witte Dame, Emmasingel 14 – 22 to 30 October 2016
Envisions Products in Process
A group of designers who came together to showcase the unseen steps of the research process in Milan will bring the exhibition to this year's Dutch Design Week.
The colourful, material-focused show – called Products in Process Part 2 – presents playful designs related to colour, materials and techniques. Each is intended to trigger a dialogue between designers, clients and manufacturers by presenting everything but the end product.
Envisions Products in Process Part 2, VDMA, Vestdijk 25-27 – 22 to 30 October 2016
Maarten Baas Makes Time
For his self-titled exhibition, Dutch designer Maarten Baas will present projects ranging from gastronomy to graphic design that use time as a central theme.
Held in the VDMA building in Eindhoven's city centre, the exhibition will include a collection of Bass' key works, collaborative pieces by designers and a temporary restaurant.

Manifestations
The Manifestations exhibition will show the most innovative technology developments from 2016 – questioning whether the future will design us.
Projects on show include a set of connected implants that let wearers listen to their wellbeing, a home-grown sanitary pad that helps balance vaginal flora and a scent diffuser that alerts internet users to leaks of their private data.
Manifestations, Microlab, Kastanjelaan 400 – 22 to 30 October 2016
For Play, Shaping Sexuality
At For Play, 30 designers will explore the contemporary culture of eroticism, gratification, lust and desire.
The exhibition will include products, installations and performances covering a vast array of intimacy-related issues, including problematic sex, the prevention of sexual displeasure, and instant sexual gratification through the use of sex toys and porn.
For Play, MU, Torenallee 40-06 – 22 to 30 October 2016
