Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec's latest piece for Galerie Kreo is a series of light chains made from links that can be "endlessly joined together".
The Chains collection by the two brothers is a continuation and amalgamation of works they have been developing over the years.
Made from a series of lampshade-like modules, the chains are suspended from the gallery's ceiling and emit a soft glow.
"Module, assembly and the relationship with the surrounding space characterise this new work," said the duo. "The collection is composed from light chains made out of numerous links that can be endlessly joined together."
Each chain is made from a different material and reflects the light differently. The stark white plaster versions seem to accentuate the light, while the anodised aluminium pieces appear glittery.
An additional chain made from glossy red ceramic pieces is without light, and is intended to be mounted either as an installation or as a series of privacy screens.
"The glossy glaze confers an organic dimension, almost as if the pieces were alive," said the designers.
The Bouroullecs, who were awarded the 2014 London Design Medal, have previously designed tiles for Mutina, furniture for Hay and a fabric collection for Kvadrat.
They launched their first electronics product in 2015 – a flat-screen television with a distinctive I-shaped profile – and recently designed a range of giant diamond-shaped vases for Galerie Kreo.
The Chains collection will be exhibited at Paris' Galerie Kreo until January 2017.
