Dsignedby creates space-saving kitchen unit for millenials
Dezeen promotion: Serbian brand Dsignedby has packed all the appliances needed for cooking into this space-saving wooden kitchen island.
The Kitch'T cabinet is designed with young people in mind. It slots beneath the brand's Table T, which is made up of a metal frame and a Corian countertop.
It will be on display at the Belgrade Furniture Fair and was awarded both an Iconic award and a Platinum A'Design award earlier this year.
Aiming to create a kitchen that was suited to modern-day living, Dsignedby created the space-saving unit to be easily moved and transported.
"An all-in-one piece, the Kitch'T is easy to move from apartment to apartment, and is easily adaptable according to your needs," said the brand. "As everything is fitted beneath the worktop, it eliminates the need for upper cabinet space."
The brand also wanted the furniture to become a social hub. The cooking hob and industrial-style tap are located on one side so that the rest of the spaces can be used to sit and relax.
"As young people are often short on space in their homes, we wanted to design something that would provide them with an area that is not only functional, but also where they can gather with their friends," said the brand.
The solid oak doors have no handles and are instead opened by a push-open mechanism. Appliances, including a mini-bar fridge, are hidden inside.
A phone charger is built into its surface, as well as the electrical and USB sockets.
Outlets on the the left- and right-hand side mean that it can easily be connected to water and electrical supplies.
Dsignedby will be exhibiting the Kitch'T in Hall 3 at the Belgrade Furniture Fair, running from 8 to 13 November 2016.
