Swathes of bright colour combine with patterned ceramic tiles in the Hong Kong apartment home of multidisciplinary design studio Lim + Lu.
Vincent Lim and Elaine Lu – who founded their studio while living in New York – wanted their home to also serve as a showroom, demonstrating their signature style.
The couple reject what they describe as New York industrial chic, using colour and pattern to "inject fresh life" into spaces.
Blocks of soft pink and jade green recur throughout their 112-square-metre flat, broken up with ceramic tiles in various patterns.
Furniture of the pair's own design also features throughout the apartment, including geometric daybeds and sofas from the pastel Mass series and grid-like Frame coffee tables.
The three-bedroom apartment is in a building neighbouring the Happy Valley Racecourse in an affluent residential area of Hong Kong.
Lim and Lu removed a number of internal walls in their renovation of the interior, replacing them with black-framed glass sliding doors that allow natural light to reach into the apartment's nooks.
Pale floorboards flow through most of the apartment, accented with black where they meet white walls. The soft-hued living room – with its pale pink and gold Mass series sofa – abuts the more vivid study, one of several areas demarcated with a patch of patterned floor tiles.
Another is the en-suite bathroom, which features hexagonal white and grey tiles that run halfway up the jade green wall.
This space is punctuated by gold-coloured accents on taps, furniture and the frame of the Lunar mirror – a large, round piece, also of the couple's design.
The master bedroom is almost monochrome by comparison, although its spacious walk-in closet includes bright blue walls with pink textiles.
Other recent apartment interiors to feature bold colour include an Airbnb rental in Barcelona and a London guest suite with rainbow-coloured herringbone floors.
