Anish Kapoor is the artist that Dezeen readers are most interested in, finds the inaugural Dezeen Hot List.
The London-based sculptor – famed for works including the bean-shaped Cloud Gate in Chicago and the womb-like Leviathan in Paris – is the highest ranking artist on the Hot List, revealing how influential his work is among architects and designers.
Stories that have contributed to his popularity include the news that he acquired exclusive rights to a pigment said to be the blackest shade of black ever created and that fellow artists Carsten Höller had added a slide to his ArcelorMittal Orbit.
Dezeen Hot List is the most comprehensive data survey of architecture and design media ever conducted.
Published earlier this month, the 400-strong list is based entirely on audience data, and reveals the key players and emerging talents in the design world.

Only five artists have made it onto the list and four of them tend to do work on an architectural scale or a design sensibility.
Chinese artist Ai Weiwei is at number two on the Artists Hot List, following a collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron on a pavilion, while Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson is number three, after installing a gigantic waterfall at Versailles.
Christo also made the list, coming in fourth thanks to the floating golden pathways he added to a pair of islands in Italy.
Meanwhile Damien Hirst slips in at number five on behalf of the gallery designed for him by architects Caruso St John.
The building recently won the RIBA Stirling Prize for best building by a British architect, so the artist's influence on Dezeen readers is likely to continue.
