Dezeen promotion: designers and architects have until 31 December 2016 to submit entries to a competition searching for designs for future living.
Organised by the Asko Foundation, the Home Revisited design competition aims to find home innovations that will meet the needs of future residents, while also demonstrating innovation in architecture, design and technology.
"The home of the future will be shaped by technological and social innovation," said the organisers. "Lifestyles will be influenced by environmental questions, new definitions of family, multiculturalism, ageing and digitalisation."
Contestants are challenged to explore the concept of home from every angle, including service design, spatial solutions, product design and technical solutions.
Both professionals and students can enter the competition, either as individuals or in groups of two to five.
The Grand Prize is €30,000 (approximately £25,597), the Golden Prize is €15,000 (£12,789) and the third prize is €10,000 (£8,532). A further ten shortlisted entries will receive a prize of €2,000 (£1,694).
An international jury of academics, architects and design professionals will judge the contest, which will be carried out in two phases.
Entries will first be cut down to a shortlist of ten projects, which will be selected and informed by 1 February 2017. Designers selected for the second phase will then submit a development of their work by 1 June 2017.
The shortlisted projects will be exhibited during Helsinki Design Week from 7 to 17 September 2017. The winner will be announced to the public during the design festival.
Registration is now open and entries must be submitted by 5pm on 31 December 2016.
