Dezeen is giving readers the chance to win a copy of a book that details a selection of rooftop designs in cities such as Hong Kong, Sydney and Chicago.
Reinventing the Rooftops by Philip Jodidio is a catalogue of some of the world's most interesting rooftops, ranging from rooftop bars and restaurants to installations and gardens.
A selection of 50 "intelligent and exuberant designs" are detailed through photographs and illustrations by Boyoun Kim.
"Whether it’s the panoramic views or the exposure to the elements, we see just how the roof has nurtured not only architectural invention but a whole new facet and thrill to city living," said Jodidio.
"As urban living intensifies in density and numbers, the city landscape expands both outwards and upwards," the author continued. "Architects investigate existing buildings for potential reinvention; the roof is now a city space in and of itself."
Reinventing the Rooftops includes work from Pritzker Prize winners Norman Foster, Julien De Smedt and Shigeru Ban.
The book can also be also be purchased online for £44.99.
Examples of inventive rooftops include Studio Weave's brightly coloured decking area on the roof terrace of the London College of Fashion's gallery space and a large tiered garden which forms the roof of a house designed by Vietnam based architect Vo Trong Nghia.
