Dezeen promotion: architects and designers still have time to enter the AHEAD awards for hotel design in the United States, with winners being announced in a ceremony at Herzog & de Meuron's Perez Art Museum.
The Awards for Hospitality Experience and Design Americas will recognise hotel and hospitality projects completed in the North and South America, and Canada between September 2015 and December 2016.
The awards will be presented in a ceremony at Herzog & de Meuron's Perez Art Museum in Miami on 28 June 2017.
As with the AHEAD Asia hospitality awards last year, each shortlisted project will be visited by a member of the judging panel, which will be made up of hoteliers, architects, interior designers and industry commentators.
This includes Randa Tukan, senior vice president and global director of hospitality at HOK's Toronto Office; Christian Rubio, an architect, interior designer and principal of Hirsch Bedner Associates in Miami; and Kenneth Allen Villamil, global vice president of product and brand development at the Park Hyatt, Andaz, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Centric and the Unbound Collection Hotels.
Also on the judging panel is Josh Wyatt of Equinox Hotels Properties; Vince Stroop of Stonehill & Taylor; Bill Barrie of the Americas, The Ritz Carlton and Edition; and Larry Traxler of Hilton Worldwide.
Projects will be split across a range of categories: Bar, Club and Lounge; Event Spaces, Guestrooms; Hotel Renovation and Restoration; Landscaping and Outdoor Spaces; Lobby and Public Spaces; Resort Hotel; Restaurant, Spa and Wellness; Suite; Urban Hotel – Conversion; Urban Hotel – Newbuild; Visual Identity of the Year; New Concept of the Year and Outstanding Contribution.
Registration is now open, and entries can be submitted on the AHEAD awards website. Entry costs $200 (approximately £157) and the deadline is 28 February 2017.
