To coincide with this year's Design Indaba, Dezeen is giving away five copies of Africa Rising, a book documenting work by the continent's architects, designers and photographers.
Co-edited by Gestalten publishers and Design Indaba, the hardcover book features essays and photographs that catalogue the creative endeavours being undertaken by Africa's designers, both established and up-and-coming.
Its 336 pages are filled with projects ranging from furniture design to fashion collections and photography series.
"While the colours, patterns and crafts are profoundly rooted in African tradition, young designers infuse their creations with a disruptive edge that makes them contemporary, unique, and truly authentic pieces that represent African design," said Design Indaba.
The book includes architects David Adjaye – famed for projects including the Dirty House and Stephen Lawrence Centre – and Kunlé Adeyemi, who designed a floating school.
South African designer Porky Hefer's woven, hanging seating nooks that resemble Puffa fish and a killer-whale-shaped hanging chair are also detailed.
Vibrant furniture from East London-based Yinka Ilori also features. His work, which focuses on enlivening discarded furniture, is inspired by textiles from his Nigerian heritage.
Johannesburg-based duo Adriaan Hugo and Katy Taplin form the company Dokter and Misses, and the book captures their collection of intricately detailed and colourful pastel furniture.
"Africa Rising celebrates the way art strengthens and unifies cultures and, most importantly, invokes the multifaceted richness of Africa," said Design Indaba.
Design Indaba is an annual design festival in Cape Town running from 1 to 3 March 2017. The event includes conferences, installations, music, film and food.
The book is published by Gestalten, but it can also be also be purchased online for £40.
