Dezeen promotion: architects and designers working in the Middle East and Africa are invited to submit their hotel projects to the inaugural AHEAD MEA awards, ahead of a ceremony at the W Dubai in November.
The Awards for Hospitality Experience and Design hosts its inaugural event for the Middle East and Africa on Wednesday 15 November 2017, following the events for Asia and the Americas.
It takes place at the W Dubai, which opened last year within the new Al Habtoor City complex.
The awards will recognise hotel and hospitality projects completed in the regions between January 2016 and February 2017. Architects and designers have until 31 May 2017 to submit their entries.
As with previous AHEAD awards, the judging panel will be made up of hoteliers, architects, interior designers and industry commentators.
Judges announced so far include Adrian Battisby of LW Interiors, Marcos Cain of Stickman Tribe, interior designer Pallavi Dean and Hilton director of design Clinton Freeman.
Projects will be split across a range of categories: Bar, Club and Lounge; Event Spaces, Guestrooms; Hotel Renovation and Restoration; Landscaping and Outdoor Spaces; Lobby and Public Spaces; Resort Hotel; Restaurant, Spa and Wellness; Suite; Urban Hotel – Conversion; Urban Hotel – Newbuild; Visual Identity of the Year; New Concept of the Year and Outstanding Contribution.
Entry costs 1120 AED (approximately £239) for the first entry, but all additional entries are free. The deadline is 31 May 2017 and shortlisted projects are due to be announced on 30 June 2017.
