Dezeen is giving away three copies of Surf Shacks, a book of full-colour photography capturing surfers' homes around the world.
Compiled by surf culture blog Indoek, Surf Shacks features residences ranging from hidden rural cabins to converted vans, tropical bungalows and city apartments – putting paid to the idea that surfers reside exclusively by the coast.
As well as covering an eclectic range of architectural styles, the book also spotlights interiors. Readers get a glimpse into living rooms, home art studios and even the personal record collections that illustrate what life is like onshore for surfers.
In-depth interviews with notable figures from the surfing community explore how they came to live in their homes, details of their careers and their creative influences.
Surfrider Foundation CEO Hiromi Matsubara discusses how her house in Japan takes design notes from Californian and Balinese surf aesthetic, while Water magazine founder Steve Zeldin shares stories from his extensive history in surf journalism.
The hardcover publication comes after four years of Indoek documenting surf shacks in a series online, and contains 42 of the brand's favourite projects.
Indoek is a surfing blog that integrates the water sport with creative culture, using its platform to showcase surf-related art, products and organisations.
Indoek's Surf Shacks is published by Gestalten and can be purchased online for £40.
