Dezeen has teamed up with Swedish audio brand Urbanears to give away a pair of wireless speakers that are designed to suit even the most minimal interiors.Â
The colourful, pared-back speakers provide listeners with a multi-room audio-streaming experience, by connecting to one another via built-in Wi-Fi technology.
The connected speakers can be matched up as a pair or group and synchronised, to create a surround-sound experience. But they can just as easily be separated to play different music, to suit the mood of the room they are in.
Audiences can choose from a variety of sources to stream their music, including Spotify Connect, Airplay or Chromecast. Audio devices can also be connected via Bluetooth or a 3.5-millimetre auxiliary cable.
"We wanted to create a listening experience that would bring the best of sound and connectivity into people's homes, without the hassle of trying to figure out how to make the technology work," said Oscar Axhede, co-founder and creative director at Urbanears.
The Connected Speakers are available in two different sizes, Stammen and Baggen, which are both named after Swedish neighbourhoods.
The Stammen, which is the smaller of the two speakers, measures 210 millimetres wide, 210 millimetres high and 142 millimetres deep; while the larger Baggen measures 301 millimetres wide, 301 millimetres high and 213 millimetres deep.
The speakers are covered by a fabric that is available in six different colours: Dirty Pink, Vinyl Black, Plant Green, Concrete Grey, Goldfish Orange and Indigo Blue.
Referencing classic analogue radios, the speakers feature two physical knobs on the top, which can be pushed to switch between pause, play and multi-speaker modes.
Twisting the knobs also adjusts the volume, or allows the user to flick through Spotify playlists or internet radio stations.
Users can download the Urbanears app on their smartphones and tablets to manage the speakers' various customisable settings.
The Stammen and Baggen are available to purchase for £299 and £399 respectively.
