Dezeen promotion: architects and designers working in Asia are invited to submit their hotel projects to the 2018 AHEAD Asia awards.
The Awards for Hospitality Experience and Design, which is in its second year, is to be held on 15 March 2018 – prior to separate awards shows for three other regions; Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and the Americas.
The ceremony will take place during Singapore Design Week at the newly opened Andaz hotel, designed by Hong Kong studio AFSO.
The awards will recognise the best hotel and hospitality projects completed in the region between October 2016 and September 2017.
Architects and designers have until 30 November 2017 to submit their entries.
Following on from last year's AHEAD awards, the judging panel will again be made up of hoteliers, architects, interior designers and industry commentators.
Judges announced so far include chair Guy Heywood, chief operating officer of Alila Hotels & Resorts; Ed Ng, co-founder of AB Concept; and Joyce Wang, founder of Joyce Wang Studio.
Projects will be split across a range of categories: Bar, Club and Lounge; Event Spaces, Guestrooms; Hotel Renovation and Restoration; Landscaping and Outdoor Spaces; Lobby and Public Spaces; Resort Hotel; Restaurant, Spa and Wellness; Suite; Urban Hotel – Conversion; Urban Hotel – Newbuild; Visual Identity of the Year; New Concept of the Year and Outstanding Contribution.
The various award shows will lead to a Global Biennale in 2019, where the winners of the eight regional heats compete head-to-head to decide a worldwide winner in each category.
Entry costs 200 SGD (approximately £111), and all additional entries cost 100 SGD (approximately £55).
The deadline for entries is 30 November 2017 with shortlisted projects set to be announced by on 8 January 2018.
