This modern vacation dwelling by US studio Architecturefirm consists of three rectilinear volumes arranged on a bluff "like a scattered group of stones around a campfire".
Situated on a 44-acre (18-hectare) forested property overlooking a river, the retreat serves as "place for three young boys to grow and learn from their surroundings".

New York firm Barker Freeman Design Office (BDFO) fully replaced an old house, tearing down all walls and leaving just the foundation, with a larger residence topped with a rooftop garden.
Originally a 1950s ranch house, the structure was redesigned to add more living space and make the most of the large 17-acre (seven-hectare) waterfront property.

The trio of stacked blocks that make up this residence by Höweler + Yoon Architecture are arranged in a bridge-like formation, providing three generations of a family with separate living spaces.
Two ground-level, aluminium-clad blocks act as podiums to support a horizontally lying third volume that forms the upper floor – nodding to the project's name.

Architects 3north covered the outdoor area with a broad roof that extends beyond the building's external walls, creating a space for entertaining outdoors.
