This week, Zaha Hadid's only realised house was finally unveiled

This week, the late Zaha Hadid was in the news once again, as images and a video emerged of the private residence near Moscow she designed for Russian businessman Vladislav Doronin.

The Iraqi-British architect's Capital Hill Residence, which is located in the Barvikha Forest, was designed with a master suite raised above the trees so that Doronin could wake up and see only blue skies.

In an exclusive interview for Dezeen, Vladislav Doronin discussed how determined he was to employ Hadid to his home and praised her for being "an architectural genius with great vision."

Kengo Kuma to build aquatics centre and harbour bath in Copenhagen

Japanese architect Kengo Kuma was also in the the headlines as his studio released designs for two major projects, an aquatics centre in Copenhagen featuring indoor pools framed by brick pyramids and Japan's first Ace Hotel in Kyoto.

In other architecture news, Dutch firm MVRDV won a contest to create a viewing platform on the coast of Holland, which will rock like a seesaw in reaction to the tides.

Apple now operating on 100 per cent renewable energy

In tech news Apple announced that renewable energy is now being used to power all of its retail stores, offices and data centres situated across 43 countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, China and India.

Meanwhile, Uber expanded the modes of transport for its users by acquiring electric bike-sharing service Jump.

"Our ultimate goal is one we share with cities around the world: making it easier to live without owning a personal car," said Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.

First space hotel could welcome visitors by 2022 – for an astronomical price

Also this week, Texas-based startup Orion Span revealed plans for a £70 million luxury space hotel, set to open in 2022. Designed to hold four guests and two crew members, 12-day trips would be priced at £6.7 million per person.

In related news, footage was released of Virgin Galactic's prototype SpaceShipTwo VSS Unity completing it's first successful test flight, taking the company one step closer to commercial space travel.


Triangular house by Skylab provides sweeping Rocky Mountain views
