Dezeen promotion: Norwegian furniture manufacturer Flokk has added two new Futu office chairs to its HÅG Task collection, which are designed to help workers stay alert and focused.
Flokk has designed the two new work chairs with all technical elements integrated into the shape to make them as compact as possible.
These streamlined dimensions allow the chairs to "seamlessly blend" into any working environment, said the Oslo-based company.
The HÅG Futu chair is available either with a mesh back, or with a solid back.
The mesh chair has a breathable transparent backrest to keep the user's back cool, while the solid backrest provides extra support and warmth.
Both chairs boast Flokk's uniquely designed FutuKnit fabrics, which have been made from the finest quality polyester knit, and are technically developed to retain their tautness.
The chairs are available in seven appealing colours inspired by nature, including Dusk, Forest, Aubergine, Stone, Straw, Night and Frost.
Both chairs feature Flokk's signature HÅG in Balance movement mechanism, which keeps users in continuous balanced movement to help them stay "alert and focused".
The balance mechanism also allows users to easily tilt the chair, encouraging better blood circulation due to increased leg movement. This helps users feel more energised during extended periods of sitting during working hours.
According to the brand, the chair's soft-furnished look hides the fact that it is "packed full of precision engineering".
The firm also describes the new Task chairs as versatile, suitable for both active sitting in meeting rooms, and as a comfortable chair for visitors.
"Despite being a highly functional Task chair, it's quick and easy to adjust to suit individual preferences. So, it's ideal for open-plan areas where people often swap chairs," said Flokk.
A fully functional lumbar support is optional for the mesh chair, as are height and width-adjustable armrests, while an adjustable lumbar support is integrated into the back of the solid chair.
Each HÅG Futu chair is precision engineered and then hand-crafted and assembled by one of the technicians at Flokk's factory in Røros, Norway, where the firm has been based since 1957.
Flokk is currently holding a competition to win a complete office makeover worth £26,000. Following a design consultation with an interior architect, the winner will receive up to 10 HÅG Futu chairs, along with a sofa and a table for a breakout space.
Another recent addition to Flokk's repertoire is the RBM Noor chair designed by Scandinavian studio Form Us With Love, which the brand showcased at this year's Milan design week.
Flokk recently acquired Swedish furniture brand Offecct, and also owns product brands HÅG, RH, BMA Ergonomics, Malmstolen, Giroflex and RBM.
Products made for Offecct include a "100 per cent biological chair" created by Japanese designer Jin Kuramoto using flax fibres.
The chair was presented at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in February 2018, as part of the city's annual design week, and was named best product in show by a jury including Dezeen's editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs.
