Dezeen is hosting a programme of events at the Casa Flora luxury apartment in Venice from 23 to 26 May, including a talk with David Chipperfield and exclusive screenings of our new documentary Elevation.

Casa Flora will be Dezeen's base during this year's Venice Architecture Biennale, and we are opening the doors of this restored Venetian apartment to our readers.

Marcus Fairs in conversation with David Chipperfield
23 May 2018

Dezeen founder and editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs will speak to Chipperfield in an exclusive talk. Centred around three themes, the talk will explore the challenges and opportunities of architectural exhibitions, the role and status of the architecture profession today, and the lessons creatives can take from the Venice Architecture Biennale.

Exhibiting architecture has long been a part of the professional activities of an architect, and this year Chipperfield will launch his firm's Vicenza exhibition in Venice. During the talk Chipperfield will discuss how the exhibition came about.

The event is invitation-only, but we will be livestreaming the talk on our Facebook channel so anyone around the world can tune in to watch it.

European premiere of Elevation
24 May – 26 May

Dezeen will be launching Elevation, an 18-minute documentary about how drones will transform cities – revolutionising how people travel, how goods are delivered and how buildings look and are constructed.

"Aerial highways" will relieve pressure on roads as deliveries and human transportation take to the skies in unmanned electric vehicles.

Architecture will change dramatically as the ground floor entrance is replaced by rooftop landing, parking and recharging zones and deliveries arrive via specially constructed portals on the sides of buildings.

This vision of the future is set out in the 18-minute film, which features interviews with architects and industry experts including Norman Foster, Paul Priestman, Liam Young and Anab Jain.

Yet as well as painting a picture of a utopian drone-filled future, Elevation also hints at more sinister uses of the technology, exploring potential threats to our privacy and safety.

Dezeen Awards party

With the final entry deadline on 30 June approaching, Dezeen will be hosting an apartment party to celebrate Dezeen Awards. Our inaugural awards programme will identify the world’s best architecture, interiors and design, as well as the studios and individual architects and designers producing the most beautiful, innovative and beneficial work.
