Dezeen's "mind-blowing" drone documentary Elevation premieres in New York
Dezeen's documentary Elevation launched in New York earlier this week at a premiere attended by leading designers and architects.
The 18-minute movie, which explains how drones will change architecture, cities and society, was shown for the first time at Public, Ian Schrager's new hotel on the Lower East Side.
Over 200 guests attended the screening, held on Sunday in Public Space at the hotel designed by Herzog & de Meuron.
Attendees included architects Claesson Koivisto Rune and Dara Huang; designers Lee Broom and Philippe Malouin; interior designer Afroditi Krassa; and artists Joep van Lieshout and Camille Walala.
The movie, described by UK culture secretary Matt Hancock as "mind-blowing", was introduced by co-directors Marcus Fairs and Oliver Manzi of Dezeen.
The premiere was followed by a dinner at Public's Bowery Garden restaurant, which was attended by VIP guests and Dezeen Awards judges including Patricia Moroso, Stephen Burks and Ravi Naidoo.
The dinner marked both the launch of the movie and the start of the countdown to the final deadline for entries to Dezeen Awards, which falls on 30 June.
The world premiere was followed by a European premiere held in London during Clerkenwell Design Week. Private screenings of Elevation are taking place in Venice this week at Casa Flora, our base in the city during the Venice Architecture Biennale.
Further screenings will take place around the world over the coming weeks. Be sure to subscribe to our newsletters to get details on these and other Dezeen events.
