It will be the first chance to hear Farrell and McNamara speak in the UK since the opening of the Venice Biennale in May. It will see the duo discuss the exhibition theme Freespace, which they describe as a celebration of generosity in architecture, in relation to their own work.
Projects likely to feature include the Universita Luigi Bocconi School of Economics in Milan, Italy, and the UTEC University in Lima, Peru, which won them the inaugural RIBA International Award.
The lecture takes place in the new Benjamin West Lecture Theatre – created during David Chipperfield's renovation of the Royal Academy's Burlington Gardens building – from 6:30 to 8pm on 16 July 2018.
Previous speakers at the annual architecture lecture include Norman Foster, Hans Hollein, Alvaro Siza, Peter Zumthor, Frank Gehry, Renzo Piano, Liz Diller and Rem Koolhaas.
Last year's lecture was given by Pritzker Prize winner Balkrishna V Doshi, one of the most influential Indian architects of the 20th century and an important collaborator of Le Corbusier. It saw him reflect on 70 years of pioneering architectural projects.
Five winners will each receive a pair of tickets to the talk. Winners must provide their own transport and accommodation.
Tickets can also be purchased online, with general admission for £25 and concessions at £15. Tickets include a drinks reception and private view to the 250th Summer Exhibition curated this year by artist Grayson Perry.
Competition closes 12 July 2018. Five winners will each win a pair of tickets, and will be selected at random and notified by email, and their names will be published at the top of this page.
