Dezeen Awards 2018 interiors shortlist spotlights the best indoor spaces on the planet

We're now revealing the interiors shortlist for the inaugural Dezeen Awards, including a London church converted into a home, a gallery in a former sex shop in Japan and a multicoloured exhibition in Sweden.

There are 41 projects across eight categories on the Dezeen Awards interiors shortlist, spotlighting the best new interior design from around the globe.

Architects and designers that made the list include Snøhetta, Stanton Williams, Conran and Partners, Studioilse and Note Design Studio.

Other highlights on the shortlist include a 33-square-metre guest house, a loft apartment in a former tank station, a pop-up hydroponic farm and an office in a converted Shanghai villa.

Bavaria Road, a London church converted into a home by West Architecture, made the shortlist in the house interior category

The shortlist was selected from a longlist of 207, by a panel of judges that included India Mahdavi, Terence Conran, Je Ahn of Studio Weave and Design Haus Liberty founder Dara Huang.

Projects were scored according to three criteria: whether they were beautiful, innovative, and beneficial to people and planet.

The winner of each category will be announced at a ceremony in London later this year and will go on to compete for the interiors project of the year title.

Persimmonhills Architects is shortlisted in the civic and cultural interior category for Cut, a gallery in a former sex shop in Koganecho, Japan
