Dezeen discussed the future of graphic design in the face of new technology in this talk with electronics brand Sony, papermaker GF Smith and artist Supermundane, at London Design Festival 2018.
Dezeen's editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs spoke to Sony Europe business development manager Matthew Laird, Sony Design art director Richard Small, GF Smith paper consultant Vanessa Fletcher and artist Supermundane about how technological advances are changing what's possible with graphic design.
The talk took place at GF Smith's Show Space in Fitzrovia, London, and coincides with an exhibition celebrating the European launch of Sony's new FES Watch U timepiece. The watch is fitted with an e-paper strap, which allows you to customise the timepiece with bespoke monochrome designs.
The exhibition also featured a series of unique black-and-white posters created by Supermundane, produced using a new printing technique that allows white ink to be accurately printed onto black paper much more efficiently than traditional screen printing.
