Architecture & Design Film Festival New York includes world and US premieres
Dezeen promotion: movies about famous architects and Dezeen's drone documentary Elevation will be shown during the Architecture & Design Film Festival in New York, 16-21 October 2018, and readers receive a discount on tickets.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the New York edition of the Architecture & Design Film Festival (ADFF:NY) will include world and US premieres, among a curated selection of more than 30 feature-length and short movies.
Based at Cinépolis Chelsea, the programme will kick off on 16 October 2018 with the international debut of Leaning Out – a documentary about Leslie E Robertson, the lead structural engineer for the Twin Towers.
The line-up that follows will include "films that touch upon relevant social and political issues", covering topics like American prison design and the use of gaming technology to design cities.
Documentaries about the lives and works of architects and designers Dieter Rams, Mies van der Rohe, Frank Gehry and Renzo Piano will all feature.
A lounge at the venue will include products from Vitra and an in-home theatre installation by Sony, which will present a rotation six short films.
Several panel discussions between filmmakers and industry experts are organised to coincide with the screenings. For examples, Architectural Record editor-in-chief Cathleen McGuigan will moderate a talk with Jake Gorst, director of Frey: Part 1 – The Architectural Envoy.
Dezeen is media partner for the festival, and our award-nominated documentary about how drones are changing cities, Elevation, will be shown in both the main theatre, and the Sony pop-up theatre throughout the programme.
Dezeen readers also receive a discount on General Admission tickets to screenings. Save 14 per cent on the full $17 price by using the code DEZEEN at the checkout.
Opening night tickets are $75, while student tickets are $12.50 – all available from the ADFF:NY website.
