Designed by Belgium designer Christophe Mathieu for Marset, the Bicoca features a cylindrical base that tapers to a triangular point at the top like a pencil. The circular-shaped shade rests on top and pivots to offer illumination in different directions.
"The Bicoca is born with the optimism of brightening life and accompanying the good times, wherever you go," said the brand.
"This new colourful, lightweight portable lamp projects an intimate light that adds warmth to all your personal spaces."
Mathieu, a long-time collaborator of the Barcelona-based lighting brand, designed the 25.5-centimetre-tall lamp to be used with a range of magnetic accessories that can be used to place it in various locations.
Among these is a circular magnet thats screws onto the base to secure it to metallic surfaces.
Another two accessories are intended to be used with the magnetic base so the lamp can be used to create various reading nooks around houses.
A disc-shaped magnetic piece can placed onto tables that aren't metal, or hidden underneath tablecloths, while a weighted cloth-like accessory with a round magnet in the centre can be draped over armrests, sofa backs or headboards.
The lamp has a dimmer switch to change the levels of illumination from the LED bulb, as well as save the energy of the battery operated device. It takes 10 hours to charge the battery, and it will last for 20 hours at a quarter, 10 hours at half power and five hours at full power.
Bicoca comes in six different colours – including off-white, anthracite blue, light blue, red wine – to suit a range of interiors and styles. The winner of Dezeen's competition will be able to pick the hue of the their choice.
Competition closes 13 December 2018. One winner will be selected at random and notified by email, and their name will be published at the top of this page.
