One of our 10 books that tell you everything you need to know about the hugely influential design school, Bauhaus: Weimar, Dessau, Berlin, Chicago was originally published in 1978 and is regarded as one of the most comprehensive collections to have been published on the school.
The book's author, Hans Wingler, was a German art historian and founder of the Bauhaus Archiv.
To create the book he drew on extensive materials including public manifestos, private letters, internal memoranda, newspaper and magazine articles, Nazi polemics, and budgets and curricula.
"The illustrations include architectural plans and realisations, craft and industrial model designs, sculpture, paintings, drawings, etchings, woodcuts, posters, programs, advertising brochures, stage settings, and formal portraits of such Bauhaus masters as Walter Gropius and Lyonel Feininger," says the book's publisher, MIT Press.
To mark the centenary of the school's founding, we've created a series of articles exploring the school's key figures and projects.
Along with a guide to the design school, we have profiled many of its leading figures including Gropius, Hannes Meyer and Anni and Josef Albers.
Five readers will each win a copy of the book in a boxed hardcover edition. It also available in paperback and can be purchased online.
Competition closes 14 December. Five winners will be selected at random and notified by email, and their names will be published at the top of this page.
