French design studio Superpoly looked to the Mediterranean summertime to craft the Postcard collection of "sun-tinted" furniture and homeware for Copenhagen gallery Etage Projects.
Presented at this year's Nomad design fair, the products exhibited include a cabinet, a chair, a side table, a floor lamp and two table lamps.
Antoine Grulier and Thomas Defour, co-founders of Superpoly, based the collection on their memories of summer days spent in Côte d'Azur, and the area's strong focus on craft.
The one-of-a-kind collection of furniture features bright colours and wonky, handmade forms.
"The light of the Mediterranean mostly inspires us. Historically, many artists have gone looking for it in the French Riviera, like Cezanne or Picasso," the designers told Dezeen.
"It is a pool of history, with very special craftsmanship, but more importantly, it is the exterior way of life that stimulates us."
Another source of inspiration was the modernist, post-war holiday houses built across the coast in the south of France such as the E-1027 villa, built by Irish architect Eileen Grey in 1929, one of the pioneers of the modernist movement.
"It is the beginnings of a rocky landscape of architecture dedicated to leisure. The functionality of a house built for holidays is what we try to convey," said the design duo.
The first item is the St Moritz Console, which features a wooden, rectangular cabinet and four long, irregular-shaped legs.
The cabinet has a lacquered finish and is painted in pink, blue and yellow hues.
Another item is the Fisherman's Net Chair that has a pastel blue tubular steel frame with a bright orange nylon fishnet for the seat and backrest.
Also in the collection is a side table with blue and white ceramic tiles and a blue frame made of tubular steel.
The floor lamp features a narrow, rectangular lamp shade with a lacquer finish, while both table lamps feature amorphous, ceramic forms with embedded light bulbs.
Founded in 2015, Superpoly is a design studio run by Antoine Grulier and Thomas Defour in Hyeres, France. The Postcard project was displayed at the second edition of Nomad collectable design fair in St Moritz, for which Dezeen was media partner.
Also on show was a collection of lumpy nose vases and pink nipple clocks and a series of patterned quilts for moving furniture.
