Dezeen promotion: Tel Aviv studio Aqua Creations has launched a series of sculptural lighting fixtures that can be used individually or stacked on top of one another.
Called ToTeM, the stackable lighting range features three designs: To, Te and M.
Each with different proportions, they feature rectangular forms with rounded edges. Customers can choose between one design that is almost square, a second that is tall and thin, and a third that is short and wide.
As with all Aqua Creations products, the ToTeM collection is designed to reference "organic shapes and forms" found in the natural world.
The lighting fixture shades are made by taking the lamp's metal structure and spraying it with a "cocoon" polymer.
The pieces are designed to be combined with one another to form various configurations.
"What makes ToTeM unique is its versatility and playfulness," said Aqua Creations co-founder and designer Albi Serfaty.
"Each shade has its own shape and personality – in that sense, they're like people," he continued. "They work as individuals, but when you connect them to each other, you can achieve a large chandelier on a very small budget."
All three pieces in the collection are available as either a hanging pendant lamp or a floor lamp.
The pendant lamp is hung by a simple cord, while the floor lamp features a triangular black steel frame with three legs. It also comes with a removable white-ash wood shelf for displaying potted plants or small decorative objects.
The collection is suitable for both public spaces and inside the home.
"The ToTeM range uses a powerful LED lighting mechanism, which is suitable for home environments, as well as public spaces," said the brand.
Aqua Creations was cofounded by photographer Albi Serfaty in 1992. Many of the brand's designs feature sculptural forms, including the Molecules lighting collection of origami-inspired lamps with geometric patterns.
