Dezeen promotion: there are just two weeks left to enter Samsung and Dezeen's competition to create new accessory and wallpaper designs for Galaxy mobile devices.
There is prize money of $40,000 up for grabs in the Samsung Mobile Design Competition, which closes for entries on 4 August 2019.
Two separate categories are open to entrants — one for graphic design and one for product design.
For the Next Mobile Wallpaper Paradigm category, entrants have the opportunity to design the first impression that Samsung Galaxy devices make. Samsung is looking for innovative designs for smartphones, tablets and wearables that suggest new possibilities such as interactive or generative wallpaper.
The Next Mobile + category asks entrants to imagine accessories that add interactive functionality or create unique user experiences for smartphones, tablets and wearables.
Both categories call on entrants to anticipate the future of mobile devices and create innovative designs that enhance Samsung Galaxy devices. Designers can read the full brief and enter the competition here.
The top five finalists in each category will have the chance to present their ideas in London before a jury comprising Samsung executives, Dezeen editor-at-large Amy Frearson and leading designers including Erwan Bouroullec and Stefan Scholten of Scholten & Baijings.
The top three in each category will then be invited to the Samsung Developer Conference in San Jose, USA for the prize-giving.
The competition is free to enter, and the winner in each category will win $10,000 from a total prize pot of $40,000.
There is $5,000 and $3,000 for each of the second- and third-place getters respectively, while $1,000 will go to those who come fourth and fifth.
Entry is open to all professional designers or design students who are over 18 and able to present their work to a panel of English-speaking judges. Contestants will also need to be free to travel to the UK from 24 to 26 September 2019 and the USA from 28 to 31 October 2019.
All entries must be received by 23:59 GMT on 4 August 2019. For more information on the competition, click here.
