Brooklyn creative agency An Aesthetic Pursuit has designed a bold rental house in Maine with furniture and products that guests can purchase.
Available to rent on Airbnb, Pieces Homes is a "shoppable stay" experience created by An Aesthetic Pursuit to launch and showcase designs from its Pieces collection.
"The first Pieces Homes design-destination concept creates a 'shoppable stay' vacation property that allows guests to experience and fall in love with beautifully designed and crafted products," said An Aesthetic Pursuit.
The products furnish a 2,995-square-foot (278-square-metre) house built in Kennebunkport, Maine in 1878. The rental property has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and indoor and outdoor dining spaces.
The product line, which includes rugs, chairs and tables, is displayed alongside furniture and accent pieces from Swiss furniture company Vitra and designers Jasper Morrison and Alvar Aalto.
"By creating a destination vacation design experience, we eliminate the noise found in both traditional brick-and-mortar and digital retail settings," Pieces co-founder Jenny Kaplan said.
"This affords our guests a unique opportunity to fully immerse themselves in a space filled with the beautifully designed products from our incredible group of partners and from each of our Pieces collections," Kaplan added.
In addition to furnishing the space, the studio updated the interiors with colour and pattern. Walls and floors are painted shades of blue and pink, and green cabinetry features in the kitchen.
"Colour led the inspiration for the project, with pattern and texture coming in as key elements to round out the concept," the creative agency said.
A centrepiece is a 60-foot-long (18-metre-long) Wavy Rug with a curvy rainbow pattern that snakes throughout the living and dining areas.
Another item in the Pieces collection that decorates the living room is the Teddy Bear Chair. It has a round cushion and curved arms, and is made of a fuzzy fabric, evocative of a stuffed bear.
Upholstered velvet wraps around the sides of the Dose Coffee Table, which is topped with a stone surface.
The table is designed to allow for different arrangements; it can work alone as a side or end table or be paired with another to create a longer, oval-shaped version.
Other works on show include Jasper Morrison's modular lilac coloured sofa and wooden kitchen bar chairs by Alvar Aalto.
In the bathroom, a bright coral vanity is paired with a terrazzo tiled sink counter and shower. Shades of yellow, pink, blue and green cover the walls and floors in the four bedrooms.
Pieces Home is bookable via Airbnb and all of the furnishings – from the sofa to the bed linens and toiletries – are available to purchase on the house's website.
An Aesthetic Pursuit is a furniture and interior design agency based in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighbourhood, and run by husband-and-wife team Jenny Kaplan and Chris Corrado with their friend Taisha Coomb.
The Maine project is part of a handful of shoppable vacation properties to be created recently, joining a Long Island home by Studio Robert McKinley and a Los Angeles apartment by Stephen Kenn.
