VDF teamed up with architecture imagery festival Zoomed In to host a day of talks and screenings, starting with a discussion on photographing infrastructure with Anthony Coleman, Dennis Gilbert and Kilian O'Sullivan.
Zoomed In is a brand new virtual festival founded by Luke O'Donovan. On April 21 2020, VDF hosted the festival's inaugural day.
The first talk, Photographing Infrastructure, featured VIEW Pictures members Coleman, Gilbert and O'Sullivan. The talk was live streamed and has now finished. Check out the rest of VDF's Zoomed In collaboration here.
VIEW Pictures, which was founded 20 years ago, holds the archives of 50 of the world's best-known architecture and interior design photographers.
Three of them, Coleman, Gilbert and O'Sullivan, presented a selection of images from their long-term commission documenting the redevelopment of London's iconic Battersea Power Station.
Plans previously unveiled for the Giles Gilbert Scott-designed power station's redevelopment include a glass lift inside one of its chimneys and a nearby hotel with a rooftop infinity pool.
After Coleman, Gilbert and O'Sullivan's presentation, the photographers were joined by National Infrastructure Commission Design Group member Anthony Dewar from Network Rail, and VIEW photographers Alastair Philip Wiper and Sue Barr for a conversation on photographing infrastructure.
Wiper's work includes the book "Unintended Beauty", which documents the "accidental aesthetics" of factories and laboratories.
Barr is head of photography at the Architectural Association School of Architecture, and author of the book "The Architecture of Transit."

About Virtual Design Festival
Virtual Design Festival, the world's first digital design festival, runs from 15 April to 30 June 2020. It is a platform that will bring the architecture and design world together to celebrate the culture and commerce of our industry, and explore how it can adapt and respond to extraordinary circumstances.
VDF will host a rolling programme of online talks, lectures, movies, product launches and more, complementing and supporting fairs and festivals around the world that have had to be postponed or cancelled and it will provide a platform for design businesses, so they can, in turn, support their supply chains.
